Hong Kong Events - December 2027

December is cool, dry and bright, and the whole city dresses up for it. The Christmas lights run the length of Nathan Road, the shopping centres compete on their decorations, and the month ends with the harbour countdown.

Christmas Day falls on Saturday 25 December, with the first weekday after Christmas on Monday 27 December. The festive lights and WinterFest installations that began in November are at their peak, and New Year's Eve closes the year with the countdown over Victoria Harbour.

๐Ÿ’ก Practical Notes

  • New Year's Eve: the Tsim Sha Tsui promenade and Avenue of Stars fill early and roads close near the waterfront โ€” use the MTR.
  • Christmas dining: the festive set menus sell out โ€” book restaurants weeks ahead.
  • Cool and dry: the best month to walk the lights; see the weather page for what to pack, and Nathan Road hotels for where to stay in the thick of it.
