Hong Kong Events - July 2027

July is the hottest month of the year, and often the wettest — 30°C-plus days with heavy showers and the occasional typhoon. The city's answer is to move indoors, and to come out after dark.

The month opens with the HKSAR Establishment Day holiday and closes its middle with the Hong Kong Book Fair, the largest book event in the region. On Nathan Road the rhythm shifts to evening: the malls, the night market and the waterfront after sunset.

💡 Practical Notes

  • Heat and typhoons: July is peak typhoon season — check the weather page and the observatory warnings before a day out, and keep indoor attractions in reserve.
  • After dark is better: walk the Golden Mile and the food streets after sunset; the Temple Street night market is at its best from about 19:00.
  • Book Fair weekend: expect queues at the HKCEC — go on a weekday, or take the Star Ferry and walk in from Wan Chai rather than driving.
  • Getting around: the air-conditioned MTR links the hotel strip to every venue on this list.
